Acropolis
Located in the capital city of Athens, Acropolis is home to incredible temples. The word “acropolis” can be translated into “high city” as it was constructed on rocky hills. The Acropolis was built by multiple civilizations over more than 1000 years. The most popular temple within the Acropolis is the Parthenon which was made with 58 distinctive columns and is often one of the first pictures that come to mind when someone thinks of ancient Greece. If you are traveling to Greece, this is a must-visit place that you can easily spend hours exploring.
Corfu Town
If you were to think of the perfect postcard photo, it would look something like Corfu Town in Corfu Greece. Like Delphi and the Acropolis, Corfu Town is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. It offers brilliant Venetian architecture, pedestrian-only streets, beaches within a few miles, and so many cafes and restaurants serving delicious Greek cuisine. There is simply no place like Corfu Town in the world. Equipped with a small airport and many ferries you can easily explore Corfu Town and then head to another island.
Delphi
Delphi is one of the 18 UNESCO World Heritage sites that can be found in Greece. Constructed on Mount Parnassus between the 8th century (BC) the 2nd Century (AD), it offers some of the most unbelievable views that you will see while in Greece. Originally, ancient Greeks pilgrimaged to Delphi where they would worship the God Apollo. Though the site has deteriorated over the course of multiple centuries, it is still an awe-inspiring place to visit.
Metéora Monasteries
While in Greece, you can expect to see the unexpected. This is especially true in the case of the Metéora Monasteries sitting atop of huge rocks in the Thessaly Plain in Metéora. Six of the monasteries are open to the public. You should be warned, you will have to climb many steep stone steps to reach them. However, the journey will be well worth it. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is not easy to get to, but you will leave with memories of a place that very few humans have had a chance to see in person.
Zákynthos
Traveling to Greece in search of perfect snorkeling or scuba diving opportunities? Zákynthos may be the perfect destination for you. Two of the most popular attractions of this unique island are Shipwreck Beach as well as the Blue Caves. You have to see the Blue Caves in person to believe that something this beautiful exists. Inside of the caves, the crystal clear water reflects the blue sky onto the cave walls which creates an otherworldly glow. Zákynthos is a great place to relax and explore while vacationing in Greece.
